June 29, 2012 - Friday Funny - MacGyver

This is a sad day for me, yet, still a FRIDAY FUNNY.

I saw every episode of MacGyver. I still have a working Betamax copies of the show. For those of you under 50, you'll have to Google "Betamax."

What is so sad is not that MacGyver or the actor that played him, Richard Dean Anderson can't fix his car.

It is sad, that apparently MacGyver could not assemble his BowFlex machine. Seriously, what happened to your waistline

What is even more troubling is that Anderson also played Dr. Jeff Weber on General Hospital. He of all people, should understand the connection between obesity and heart disease.

Regardless of the physical condition of the actor that played MacGyver, I will always call it a "MacGyver" when I am able to fix something with bubble gum, a paper clip, or skittles.

June 15, 2012 - Friday Funny - Love is Blurred, not Blind

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY would not have been possible a few short years ago. With the advent of Facebook and Photoshop, you can now diss your ex with relative ease and broad distribution.

Back in the day, all we had were bathroom stalls, toilet paper, and eggs.

June 15, 2012 - Facts are our Friends

The Presidential political ads are already on the airwaves in Ohio. The pundits have declared that Ohio will once again be a "Swing State."

I'm amazed that the Obama campaign is going to continue the "Blame Bush" tactic.

In the early 1980's, I was a member of the Undergraduate Student Government and also a member of the Young Republicans at at The Ohio State University. I had the pleasure to work on the re-elect Reagan campaign in 1984.

During the 1984 campaign, at no time was there a mention of the Jimmy Carter administration, the failed policies, the inflation, the 17% interest rates. Instead the Reagan campaign focused on THEIR accomplishments in the first 3 years of the Reagan administration.

Obama does not want to run on his performance for the last 3 years. If the reelect Obama folks want to talk about what they inherited, below is a quick summary chart to aid in the discussion.

Tell us what you HAVE done, rather than blame the hand you were dealt. If you can't handle the challenge, we understand. We will always remember you as a very good Community Organizer.

But the message couldn't be clearer: LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.

June 11, 2012 - PPM - The Audacity of Unions

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) concerns the continuing deaf ear that Public Unions seem to have, given the current state of affairs.

Last week, Wisconsin spoke pretty loud in their renunciation of the strong arm tactics of their state-wide Unions.

Now, with the smell of defeat still in the air, the neighboring Chicago Teachers' Union has offered an opening negotiation position. They have led with an offer seeking a 24 percent raise in the 2012-13 school year and a 5 percent increase the following year, the net effect being 30 percent.

Why shouldn't Chicago teachers get a 24% raise? Their graduation rate is 60.6%!

Chicago public school students have a 5 hour and 45 minute school day. This is the shortest among the nation's 50 largest districts, according to a 2007 report from the National Council on Teacher Quality. Maybe if the school day was longer, there would be less juvenile shootings in Chicago.

I have no doubt that there will be a teacher strike at this point. At a time when everyone else is tighten their belt, the Chicago Union has the audacity to request a 24% INCREASE.

But then again, the AUDACITY OF HOPE was born in Chicago.

June 8, 2012 - Friday Funny - Here's Your Sign

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is funny because someone was actually trying to solve a problem. They probably don't understand why no one listens to their solutions. They probably have beaten their head against the wall one time too many times.

As comedian Bill Engvqll says, "Here's Your Sign!"

June 5, 2012 - PPM - Selective Recall

I waited a day to post this week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM).

Scott Walker was the duly elected the Governor of Wisconsin in 2010. While campaigning, Walker said he would get the largess of the public sector costs under control. Public sector employees were overpaid in salaries and under contributing in pensions and for healthcare. Once elected, he acted on his campaign promises.

Backed financially by the forced union dues, a "Recall" campaign was launched.

Here is my PEEVE. Recalls should be the result of office malfeasance or crimes.

This was a difference in ideology.

This was a TOTAL MISUSE of the recall process.

The Unions lost at the ballot box in 2010. A side effect of the Walker reforms made mandatory Union Dues a thing of the past. Now the Unions have lost memberships as their true colors have been exposed. The salaries of their leaders and the exposure of their tactics have seen the light of day.

The voters have spoken and have been heard ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

Governor Walker won in a landslide.

The huge upside of the Walker victory is that Unions wasted millions on an attempt to vote out a successful governor, so they can't spend it trying to keep a failed president.

June 2 - Loser of the Week - Charles Barkley

This week's LOSER of the Week is Charles Barkley.

Barkley isn't a LOSER because he spit on a little girl during a NBA game in 2001.

Barkley isn't a LOSER because he said he was misquoted in his own autobiography in 2006.

Barkley isn't a LOSER because he claimed in 2007 that he had $10M in gambling losses.

Chuck Barkley is a LOSER because he stated in 2008 that he wanted to run as a Republican candidate for Governor of Alabama. He obviously has NO idea of what defines the differences between Democrats and Republicans.

Last month, Barkley offered his assessment of Mitt Romney on TNT during a basketball game: "We're going to beat you like a drum in November. Don't take it personally. I like you. You seem like a nice guy ... but you're going down, bro."

With Barkley offering a political endorsement during a basketball game only further illustrates the character of this LOSER.

Barkley is either a racist or a moron. Soon after he announce his intentions to run for Governor, in 2008, he decide to back the Democratic presidential nominee, Obama. Now, Barkley hijacks the TNT basketball coverage to slam his "own" party's representative.

Barkley once infamously stated that he was not a role model, Given Barkley's education, mirth and girth. Barkley is actually a great roll model.

Barkley, you ARE a LOSER.

June 1, 2012 - Friday Funny - Baby Fat

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY comes on the heals of NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's decision to make any soft drinks over 16 oz. illegal because of their high caloric value.

I should be PEEVED because of this liberty infringement. However, studies have shown that laboratory rats and some people do not know when to back away from the trough.

The below picture is sad but true. Go to any amusement park, mall, or school. The rate of childhood obesity is frightening.

However, it is a FRIDAY FUNNY, so laugh ... while you can.
