Sept 30, 2013 - PPM - Government Shutdown

This week’s PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.

The Federal Government was shut down by Congress because of their inability to approve a Continuing Resolution (CR).  This is nothing more than a Manufactured Crisis.

Naturally, some tried to over dramatize the effect of the Government Closure.

The National Park Service says the Obama administration ordered the closure of the World War II Memorial.  This Memorial was paid for by PRIVATE donations.  It is an OPEN AIR Memorial, meaning it does not require human or Government supervision.

There are pictures of 7 workers setting up the “barry-cades”, which is more security assistance than was sent to help with Benghazi last year.  The National Park Service is spending more closing things down than to keep them open.  Why hurt the American people unnecessarily?

This has strong reminders of what the Obama administration tried to do before the “Sequestration.”  It would be great if the media would recall how Obama portrayed the Sequestration as the pending apocalypse.  

Obama is using the same ineffective tactic with the Government Shutdown.  Only this time, Obama is using and abusing our Greatest Generation, our World War II veterans.  SO SAD.  SO PATHETIC.

Sept. 11, 2013 - PPM - 9/11 Discounts

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) actually happened on a Wednesday.

September 11th fell on a Wednesday this year. I had predicted that it was only a matter of time before 9/11 would be commercialized as a "Holiday." After all it happened to Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

This year, it occurred on a local and national basis. After the appropriate outrage, the ads and offers were retracted.......this time.

As I have proposed before, ALL stores, schools, and government offices should be closed on September 11. We should honor the innocent lives lost and remember how we unified after the attacks.

Many have proposed that every September 11th should be a day of National Service. That is a good start.

We should make Community Service mandatory to maintain your citizenship EVERY YEAR. To be an AMERICAN, it is an honor and a privilege,. It should not be taken for granted. It should be EARNED.

Sept. 2, 2013 - PPM - Syrian Civil War

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the situation with Syria.

In summary, someone used Chemical Weapons during the Syrian Civil War. Obama had stated that this was a "Red Line" and that he would take action.

The world and UN responded and no action was taken. Obama, in a desire to save one of his 2 faces, said we would act. However, 80% of the US population says "no thanks." 84% can't locate Syria on a map. And 74.3 % of all percentages are made-up on the spot.

Obama says this is not a declaration of war, the Syrian people and those in the region may have a different opinion once cruise missiles start flying.

As for the use of chemical weapons, the UN says 1400 civilians were killed in that type of attack. The same UN says over 100,000 have been killed in this civil war via other means. Why does the death via one weapon over another weapon, matter? A war death is a war death!!!

Obama wants limited and narrow action and no regime change, yet they want to hold Assad responsible. WHAT? Is Obama proposing some sort of Dictator "Time Out?"

Obama is now seeking Congressional Approval for the targeted bombing. Why didn't Obama seek congressional authorization before he declared a "Red Line?"

Where does Syria rank on American priorities? Jobs, energy, health, education, terrorism, balancing budget? Where would you rate Syria?

It will cost $1.5 MILLION dollars per missile to shoot at Syria, yet we don't have money to open the White House to tours or to serve our troops HOT MEALS.

Remember the 2012 campaign when Joe Biden accused Mitt Romney of wanting to go to war against Syria? Good times.

My PET PEEVE is why are we the world's policeman? Why are we picking sides in a Civil War? How did that work in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood? Not entering a foreign civil war doesn't make you an "isolationist."

I hope Charlie Daniels has a good Tax Attorney. The IRS will be calling shortly.
