Nov. 22, 2012 - Happy Thanksgiving

I think this picture best sums up my feelings about those who forget what we should be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Nov. 21, 2012 - No Secret Agent Man

What will happen next?

This whole David Petraeus saga is starting to look like a bad episode from Dynasty: Shirtless G-men, married doctor's wives fighting over married men, sex in the office. It makes one miss Krystle Grant Jennings Carrington (Linda Evans) and Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexler Rowan (Joan Collins.)

The FBI has now spent more time at Petraeus' biographer's house than they have in Benghazi. I'm sure at the end of the day the Administration will blame it on some crappy anti-Islam YouTube video guy.

As I overheard at my church/library this afternoon, "It sounds like Generals are taking orders from their PRIVATES."

Here is what I have concluded from the Petraeus coverage. If you are married to a Doctor, and you are a community volunteer, and you attend many fundraisers, you are called a SOCIALITE.

I'm now printing up business cards with my title as: THE Reverend J. Jay, SOCIALITE

I'm still working to gain my "Honorary Counsel to the Bahamas" designation.

Nov. 20, 2012 – Loser of The Week – Jesse Jackson Jr.

There is an old saying the "Apple Doesn't Fall Far from The Tree."

In the case of Jesse Jackson Jr., It couldn't be truer.

I had previously blogged about Jesse Jackson on three earlier occasions. To my surprise, I had never called out the Senior Jackson as my LOSER OF THE WEEK.

His son will finally go where his father should have --- PRISON.

Jackson, Jr (D-Ill.) was recently re-elected. He won 63 percent of the vote in Illinois' 2nd congressional district despite ethics controversy and, for essentially, not campaigning. NO ONE had seen him in 6 months. He had checked himself into the Mayo Clinic where he was battling a range of illnesses.

While I'm not so unforgiving as to not respect that people get ill and require treatment. The prudent action would have been for Jackson Jr.to resign and allow for an able body replacement. But Jackson, Jr. was above courtesy and common sense. He was selfish and self-surviving.

As we approached the election the media finally reported on Jackson, Jr.'s legal problems. The Chicago Sun-Times' Michael Sneed reported that Jackson is engaged in "ongoing" plea discussions with the feds concerning a $40,000 Rolex watch the Chicago Democrat allegedly bought, with campaign funds, for a female friend -- in addition to previous reports of campaign funds used to decorate Jackson's Washington, D.C. home.

What is sad, is that even with this knowledge, he was still RE-ELECTED BY THE CHICAGO POLITICAL MACHINE.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. You are my LOSER OF THE WEEK.

Nov. 16, 2012 - Friday Funny - Accidents Happen

This week's Friday Funny comes from a friend in Arizona.

It involves a letter from a wife to her traveling businessman husband concerning a "minor" accident:

"My darling husband,

Before you return from your business trip, I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick up truck when I turned into the driveway.

Fortunately it's not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me. I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The garage door is slightly bent but fortunately the pick up came to a halt when it bumped into your car. I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me.

You know how much I love you and care for you my sweetheart. I am enclosing a picture of the damage for you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.

Your loving wife. XXX

P.S. Your girlfriend called."

Nov. 9, 2012 - Friday Funny - Lyrical Dysfunction

While it may be tough to find humor based upon the political events of the week, I was sent this cartoon some time ago for use as a FRIDAY FUNNY.

People find it astonishing that I had worked at a radio station, yet I have no grasp for music lyrics.

Oh well, I guess I must have been blinded by the light....

Nov. 8, 2012 - A Fraud of an Election

The dust has finally settled on Election 2012. I'm sure glad we elected the challenger Obama. The guy we've had for the last four years was really, truly awful.

I thought Obama went very small and very negative. Over 77% of his ads were negative. By contrast, 32% of Romney's were negative. Obama and his surrogates called Romney a murderer, a felon, and a tax cheat. All baseless and wrong, yet there were no apologies and no retractions.

They linked Romney to controversial rape comments by Republican Senate candidates from MO and IN, yet VP Biden comments about slavery and chains went unchallenged.

Obama has said or implied that his opponents were stupid, racist, greedy, selfish, misogynistic, and evil. He sees voting as revenge.

The Obama campaign laid out a strategy to demonize success and wealth. Do we really want a President that has been bankrupt or a failure?

Obama may be the President, but he was anything but Presidential in the campaign. The flags at Independence Hall should be lowered to half mast.

In the end, the GOP house was RE-ELECTED. There is NO mandate for Obama, so what will change? MORE unemployment, MORE entitlements, MORE debt.

I thought Romney would win based on the economic conditions. But then again, I thought Jack would live at the end of "Titanic," I thought bell bottoms would withstand the test of time. And I thought Xanadu was a great movie and would have many sequels.

It's hard to imagine how the exit polls showed that 52% thought the country is headed in the wrong direction, yet decided to continue with the same leader that has taken you in that direction.

We are now a house divided. 1/2 free; 1/2 slave and dependent on government. As Lincoln said, "a house divided cannot stand." I would hope Obama will move and govern more to the center, but nothing in his past illustrates that he will. If Obama doesn't, the GOP still controls the House and we will remain in gridlock at least for the next 2 years.

In the end, I hope for the continued good health of Justices Scalia, Roberts, Thomas, Alito, and (yes) Kennedy.

We should always remember what Thomas Jefferson said: "The democracy will CEASE to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would NOT."

Nov. 4, 2012 - Time For A Change

It's that time of the year where we "Spring Forward, Fall Back."

This year, we should CHANGE more than our clocks.

Nov. 2, 2012 - Halloween Disclaimer

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY ties Halloween and the pending election together.

At the end of the day, it is SO true.....unfortunately.
