Apr.29, 2016 - Barry - One Last Time

I’m went to see Barry Manilow on his "ONE LAST TIME" tour tonight. Some thought it should have been titled, "One Time TOO Many." But it was a great show for a 72 year old entertainer.

It was actually a great name for a tour given how many rockers have passed away recently. We hoped Barry would do a Prince tribute song like Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, and others had been doing in their concerts.

Who wouldn’t have paid good money to see Barry Manilow sing “Darling Nikki” or “Sexy M.F.”?

No worries. Barry still got a standing ovation from the audience, hip-replacements and all.

Apr. 25, 2016 - PPM - Socialism Defined

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is Socialism. Nobody seems to understand the economic concept. Everyone likes the idea of "Free Stuff" until they realize it isn't FREE.

I don't know what is more ironic:

Bernie Sanders, the Socialist, laying off campaign workers. (I'm sure he will still pay them a living wage - he was actually paying some $11/hr not $15/hr)

OR

Hillary Clinton saying that the the voices of sexual assault victims should not be silenced. (Broderick, Jones, etc. etc. etc.)

April 21, 2016 - Death of a Prince

Very sad about the sudden death of Prince. To me, he was more talented than Michael Jackson.

I only saw Prince once in concert. It was in spring of 1982 when he was on the way up. He played the Agora on High Street on THE Ohio State University campus. He was staying at the Holiday Inn on Lane in Columbus where I was the night auditor.

His manager gave us back stage passes in exchange for keeping the hotel bar open past closing following his show. The funniest thing I remember was the Columbus police trying to decide whether or not to arrest Prince for indecent activities based on some of his antics on the stage. His stage act would be considered mild by today’s standards, but were most definitely over the line in 1982.

RIP Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016)

April 10, 2016 - Happy Siblings Day

We now have a day or week to celebrate everything: Teachers, Nurses, Transgendered Mailpersons, etc.

Well, Welcome to National Siblings Day!!!

Here is my family from 1964.

That is me on the far left (the only time I will ever be on the far left.)

However, it does appear that I am cropped off to one end or another in every family photo.  Just Saying.
