Sept 30, 2013 - PPM - Government Shutdown

This week’s PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.

The Federal Government was shut down by Congress because of their inability to approve a Continuing Resolution (CR).  This is nothing more than a Manufactured Crisis.

Naturally, some tried to over dramatize the effect of the Government Closure.

The National Park Service says the Obama administration ordered the closure of the World War II Memorial.  This Memorial was paid for by PRIVATE donations.  It is an OPEN AIR Memorial, meaning it does not require human or Government supervision.

There are pictures of 7 workers setting up the “barry-cades”, which is more security assistance than was sent to help with Benghazi last year.  The National Park Service is spending more closing things down than to keep them open.  Why hurt the American people unnecessarily?

This has strong reminders of what the Obama administration tried to do before the “Sequestration.”  It would be great if the media would recall how Obama portrayed the Sequestration as the pending apocalypse.

Obama is using the same ineffective tactic with the Government Shutdown.  Only this time, Obama is using and abusing our Greatest Generation, our World War II veterans.  SO SAD.  SO PATHETIC.

Dec. 27, 2012 - PPM - Fiscal Cliff

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY has been moved to Friday because of the Holidays. The " Fiscal Cliff" fallacy is this week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM).

The term "Fiscal Cliff" is a politically generated term. The "crisis" is manufactured by our politicians and by their incompetence. And now we have been a party to the very public negotiations. None of these "leaders" could hold a mid-level management position based upon their poor negotiation tactics.

Amid all the political and media hoopla about the "fiscal cliff" crisis, a few facts are worth noting.

First, the Democrats want to raise the taxes on the rich or 2%. If that is done, it will scarcely make a dent in the government's financial problems. It will cover government spending for 9 days.

Next, the President wants to delay Sequestration, the planned budget cuts of the military and some entitlements. He stated in the 3rd Presidential debate that it wouldn't happen, yet HE is the one that signed it into law. Without spending cuts, we will NEVER get our fiscal house in order.

Finally, the White House's initial negotiating offer would give Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling essentially to infinity without congressional approval. This not only goes against the Constitution, but it is insane. Since when does the Credit Card holder establish their Credit Card LIMIT?

My take , is that we ALL should go over the fiscal cliff like Thelma and Louis.

Tax hikes affect everyone, especially when they're used as an excuse to ignore our phenomenally large and fast-growing debt. If the Clinton rates were so desirable, EVERYONE should go back to paying the Clinton rates.

This class warfare is shameless. Do the wealthy or rich drive on better roads? Do they have receive better national defense?

I have advocated for years that we should have a consumption tax. Exclude necessities or healthy food. Tax all the sins: cigarettes, liquor, sweets

In 2009, Obama said it was time to stop kicking the can down the road on entitlements. It's almost 2013 and he's kicking harder than ever before.

No previous administration in the entire history of the nation ever finished the year with a trillion-dollar deficit. The Obama administration has done so every single year. Yet political and media discussions of the financial crisis have been focused overwhelmingly on how to get more tax revenue to pay for past and future spending.

We don't need new taxes, we need new taxpayers. It's a simple model, taught in Econ 101 classes: Lower taxes, Create jobs, Tax revenues will rise.

A rising tide, lifts ALL boats.

Feb. 25, 2013 - PPM - Se-Question?

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the SEQUESTER.

It is next in the line of "manufactured criseses." The Fiscal Cliff, The Debt Ceiling, and now the SEQUESTER.

The Sequester came about because of an agreement in 2011 to avoid the then Fiscal Cliff. It was proposed by Obama, proposed by Congress, and SIGNED by Obama into LAW.

To be clear, the 2013 impact of the Sequester is a $85 billion out of a $3.6 TRILLION annual budget. A 2.2 % reduction. That's it.

It's not even an actual reduction in spending from the prior year. It's a 2% reduction in the INCREASE from the 2012 spending levels. So we are going to spend more in 2013 than in 2012, just not as much.

It's like your weekly allowance is going from $25 to $30 but not to $30.60. A 2% difference.

Democrats and the Obama Administration warned Americans this week that the proposed sequester cuts would result in 700,000 job losses by the end of 2014.

That sounds pretty awful, huh?

Well, it sounds bad until you compare it to the Obama stimulus.

In the three years after the $787 billion dollar Obama stimulus the Labor Force Participation Rate dropped from 65.7% in January 2009 to 63.6% in September 2012. That means that after the stimulus was passed, nearly 5 million Americans fled the workforce in hopeless despair.

5 Million Job Losses for spending MORE versus 700,000
job losses for spending LESS.

Obama and his surrogates are out in full force offering their "Chicken Little" assessment of what will happen if the OBAMA sponsored Sequestration happens:

The FAA will have to close airports. (Transportation Security Hood)

The US will be more vulnerable to terrorist attacks. (National Security Napolitano)

We've heard from every WH Cabinet Secretary except the Secretary of Agriculture. I'm sure Crop Circles will now become Crop Ovals because of the deflated funding.

In response, the GOP should make a long list of ridiculous/wasteful spending and keep asking Obama why he's cutting children's vaccines instead $1000 Dept. of Defense hammers.

The Sequester should happen because we NEED SPENDING REDUCTION.

Just get prepared for Obama blaming the crappy economy on the sequester for months upon months.
