Nov. 21, 2014 - FF - Gettysburg Tweet

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is a tribute to the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

It was delivered by Lincoln during the American Civil War, on the afternoon of Thursday, November 19, 1863, at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA.  It came four and a half months after the Union defeated the Confederacy at the Battle of Gettysburg.

When I was in school, we could memorize all 272 words of the Gettysburg Address for extra credit. Unfortunately, the attention span of today's youth is 180 characters.

Nov. 17, 2014 - Loser of the Week - Ebola Nurse

It’s time for a LOSER of the Week. 

This week, it is Kaci Hickox, the EBOLA NURSE.

Hickox was the health worker who objected to the conditions of her quarantine upon returning from west Africa.  She went out, she went bike riding, she bitched and moaned about her situation.  She did everything but operate the Kissing Booth at the county fair. 

Hickox is now objecting to being called “the EBOLA NURSE” in a new op-ed that accuses state politicians of cynically manipulating public fears for political gain.

Really – over 5000 people have died from Ebola.  Can we not make it about YOU?

“I never had Ebola,” Hickox wrote (original emphasis hers) in a Monday op-ed in the Guardian, “so please stop calling me “the Ebola Nurse” – now!”

Hickox accused Republican Governors Chris Christie (New Jersey) and Paul LePage (Maine) of imposing “overzealous” quarantines and exaggerating the risks posed by asymptomatic health workers for political reasons.  It should be now be known that Hickox is a registered Democrat and had written several left-leaning op-eds.

Hickox has co-opted her position as a medical professional (?) for HER political reasons and needlessly endangered others.  Is a 21 –day quarantine that bad?  Did you really put people in possible danger for YOUR POLITCAL REASONS?   

That makes Kaci Hickox,  "The EBOLA NURSE" the LOSER of the Week.

Nov. 14, 2014 - FF - Libel Labels

This week's Friday Funny is the state of our society.  It seems because of the litigious manner in our country, every product now must come with a warning label.

How many swallowed hangers had to be extracted by hospitals before this warning label became necessary OR MANDATORY?

Funny...yet sad.

Nov. 7, 2014 - FF - President Biden

Many were projecting that the newly elected Republican-dominated Congress should take up the Impeachment of President Obama in January.

As I lecture my students, always try to think two to three steps ahead.  In this case, two words should prevent ANYONE from considering Impeaching Obama:

President Biden

And that is this week's FRIDAY FUNNY.

Nov. 4, 2014 - Election Day

November 4 is Election Day.  Historically, less than half of the of the eligible people WILL vote.  I previously blogged about WHO should be eligible to vote. 

When voting this year remember Obama said "my policies are on the ballot." Obama had promised us that our health insurance premiums would go down by $2500. Everyone should bring their last bill to the polls. Vote accordingly. Vote wisely.
