Nov. 29, 2013 - Friday Funny - Black Friday

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is so true that it is almost NOT funny.

This year, some retailers even opened on Thanksgiving night.

Personally, I do all of my shopping on-line, until December 23, when I buy whatever is left.  I believe in "Present-Fate."

Nov. 25, 2013 - PPM - 86 or 95?

This week’s PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is about the Quality of Life.

Because of the advancement of technology and extreme personal wealth, we have been able to extend the life of some people.

Two recent examples come to mind: Nelson Mandela and Reverend Billy Graham.

Each of these men had historical and remarkable lives. Each has been on “death’s doorstep” many times in the past year, yet each has been brought back from the brink.  In some cases, they have been kept “alive” unable to speak or communicate for up to 25 days?

One has to question, IS THIS LIFE?

I’m not advocating the premise of Logan’s Run.  A movie that promoted that all people should be exterminated or eliminated at the age of 30.  The magic number is not 30, but is it 95, the age of Nelson Mandela and Reverend Billy Graham?

At what age do you "86" a person?  86 means to bury someone, 6 feet under.

At some point, being “alive” and actually being alive, intersect.  A “Do Not Resuscitate” hasn’t come into play.  Soon, we will have the technology that everyone can become a Captain Pike.  Pike was the Star Trek Captain that was paralyzed, mute, badly scared, and dependent on a brainwave- operated wheelchair.  He was more robot than human.

My personal desire is to die sooner rather than later from any debilitating illness or disease.  I will always value what Abraham Lincoln said, “It’s not the years in the life, but the life in the years.”

That said, based upon my understanding of Lincoln, I will never attend the theater and sit the Presidential Box.

All I ask, is that should my health deteriorate, please pull the plug.  Let me go.  But only after getting a second or possible third opinion.

I AM a VERY sound sleeper.

Nov. 22 - Friday Funny - Sign of the Times

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is the following pic:

I remember this song from the early 80's.

I'm NOT sure what the lyrics meant.
I'm NOT sure Eddy Grant ever had another "hit."
I'm NOT sure how to get that song out of my head now.

It's not that funny any more.

Nov. 15, 2013 - Friday Funny - Siri Doesn't Lie

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is the iPhone Siri.

If you ask Siri a question, she will answer it, to the best of her ability.

I queried Siri; "Is Barack Obama a LIAR?"  This was the response:

Apparently, I need an IOS and phone upgrade. Based upon the revelations and discovery this week that President Obama had lied about his repeated statement, "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it."

Already this year, 5 million policies have been cancelled.  Next year, up to 100 MILLION plans could be cancelled.

It may be a FRIDAY FUNNY, but it is devastating to those affected.

Nov.11, 2013 - PPM - Non-Apologies

This week’s PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the NON-APOLOGY.

We saw two great examples in the last week.

The first was when President Obama offered his “apology” about his repeated lies about being able to keep your insurance and doctor if you liked them under Obamacare.  Obama was given “4 Pinocchio’s'' by the Washington Post for his statements.  The only thing worse was his non-apology for these statements. He said he was sorry if we misunderstood what he said.  THAT IS NOT AN APOLOGY.
The second example happened on this week’s “60 Minutes.”  CBS “apologized” for using an unchecked source for a story on Benghazi.  They said they were sorry for being taken in by an unreliable source. What they should have apologized for is not DOING THEIR JOURNALISTIC JOB and verifying their source.

People these days think that saying “I’m Sorry” makes everything better.  NO IT DOES NOT.  Especially if they are NOT really apologizing for their crimes and misdeeds.

I’m sorry if you did not understand my PEEVE about non-apologies.
I’m sorry, IF YOU DID NOT GET IT.  I CAN EXPLAIN IT TO YOU, BUT I CANNOT MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND.

How is that for an apology?

Nov. 8, 2013 - Friday Funny - Brain-drain

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY comes from a Facebook friend.

Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries. Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head. He became concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour. The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head. When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head.

A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered.

Linda is a blonde, a Democrat, and an Obama supporter, but that could all be a coincidence.

The defective biscuit canister was analyzed and the expiration date was from 2008, so it was determined to be Bush's fault.

Nov.1, 2013 - Blonde Corn Maze

Is it a maze or malaise?

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY is yet another comical, yet accurate slap toward blonde women, not men.
