Jan. 20, 2013 - Loser of the Week - Ray Nagin

This week's LOSER OF THE WEEK is former New Orleans mayor, Ray Nagin.

The ex-mayor is alleged to have taken $200,000 in kickbacks and received trips to Hawaii, Jamaica and Las Vegas. In total, there are 21 federal corruption charges.

Nagin, served two, four-year terms as mayor from 2002-2010 and was the face of New Orleans after the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. Nagin famously said in a Martin Luther King Day speech in which he predicted New Orleans would return to be a "chocolate city" and asserted that "God was mad at America."

Nagin is not my LOSER OF THE WEEK because of these statements or indictments. Nagin is a LOSER because he MOVED away from New Orleans and currently lives in Frisco, Texas outside of Dallas.

Nagin couldn't even support the people of New Orleans. The same people who supported him.

Nagin is a LOSER without CONVICTION, well at least until his trial.

July 9, 2014 - Elect Nagin ... in 2025

Today, the former Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin was sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison for his conviction on embezzlement and bribery charges.

This is the same Ray Nagin that criticized George Bush as a racist President for the federal response to Hurricane Katrina.  It turns out Nagin robbed from everyone regardless of the color of their skin.

As a reminder, Ray Nagin was my "Loser of the Week" some 18 months ago.

Maybe Nagin can follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Washington DC Mayor Marion Berry who served from 1979-1991 until he was videotaped smoking crack in 1990.  He was convicted and served 6 months in prison only to be re-elected as mayor in 1995.

Nagin in 2025.... print the bumper stickers....  NOW!!!
