On a recent flight to Los Angeles, I was able to watch live breaking news on the plane. All was good, until they started to report about a plane crash.

Sometimes, technology should NOT be available.

Aug. 26, 2013 - PPM - MLK Nightmare

This week all the major networks are running commemorative shows because of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s " I Have a Dream" speech from 1963.

The most quoted passage from the speech is:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

In reality, Obama WAS elected because of the color of his skin and NOT by his character. How can you explain that 95% of African Americans supported Obama?

What is unbelievable is how the first African-American President and Attorney General say that we haven't made any progress on Civil Rights. Reality should use a mirror.

But what is "Weapons Grade" irony is the outrage over the paraphrased MLK quote on his DC statue.

MLK was infamously caught plagiarizing by Boston University where King received his Ph.D. in systematic theology. They conducted an investigation that found he plagiarized major portions of his doctoral thesis from various other authors. Paraphrasing / Plagiarizing - whatever.

That aside, I find King's speeches inspirational and prophetic. Unfortunately, Rev. Martin Luther King's dream didn't die, it was murdered by the very agenda being preached in his name today.

My PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is the self proclaimed leaders of the Civil Rights movement.

To have the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton attempt to carry King's message does a monumental disservice.

Rev. Jesse Jackson says the "Tea Party is the resurrection of the Confederacy." Really? The Tea Party tenets are: Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government, and Free Markets. Where is the racism?

Jackson was asked this week about the death of a white Australian baseball player at the hands of minorities because they were bored. He said that the incident was "frowned upon." Measure that, against his response on Treyvon Martin. Who is the racist?

Sharpton has never apologized or acknowledged his errors in the Towanda Braxton affair.

Jackson and Sharpton do more harm than good. They are race baiters at best. They are ignorant media whores at worst.

I believe MLK would have taken Sharpton and Jackson to task on their inflammatory rhetoric. Unfortunately their hubris goes unchallenged by the media.

It's not surprising that some will call the below picture racist. Facts are your friends.

Aug. 24, 2013 - The Beer Plunger

Most great ideas or inventions come while you are in the shower, or on the beach. I came up with "The Beer Plunger." An inverted plunger that holds your favorite beverage. MacGyver would be proud.

I bought a case of new plungers. You sharpen the handle end so it can be staked into the ground. It can also be used as a weapon in the case of a zombie apocalypse. I plan to distribute the beer plungers as Christmas gifts.

I do get some odd looks when I check into a beach resort carrying my own plunger. But no one asks why.

Aug. 19, 2013 - PPM - War on Women

This week's Pet Peeve Monday (PPM) is the War on Women.

One of the endorsed themes of the 2012 Presidential campaign was the projected Republicans " War on Women." It was a myth promoted by he liberal media.

After all, Mitt Romney had "binders full of women resumes." How dare he?

The press decided to not report that the Obama Administration only pays White House women staffers 77% of the pay of their male counterparts.

It's been months since the first victim came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and worse against the Democratic San Diego Mayor, Bob Filner. Finally, today the Democratic National Committee finally got involved.

It seems that if you are a Democratic politician, you can sexually harass up to 15 women before the DNC gets upset. Fifteen women harassed is fine, 16 crosses the line.

For the record, I present the Democrats' War on Women Hall of Fame.

Aug. 12, 2013 - PPM - Send in the Clowns

This past weekend, a rodeo clown at the Missouri State Fair wore a Barrack Obama mask during his performance.

It's important to note there were no audible boos at the rodeo, which means if Democrats were there, they either sat quietly or cheered.

However, the much expected "blow it out of proportion" faction of the Democratic Party has surfaced.

On Monday, Missouri State Fair officials barred a rodeo clown who wore the Obama mask from EVER PERFORMING at the fair again. The president of the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association, a private nonprofit group that sponsored the rodeo and employed the clown, resigned as well.

It's tragic that with all the "Phony Scandals" that are now in the news: Benghazi, IRS, NSA - no one LOST THEIR JOB.

The first time someone was held accountable, and loses their job, it was a CLOWN.

But the state commission went further, saying it will require that before the Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to the director of the Missouri State Fair that they have proof that all officials and subcontractors of the MRCA have successfully participated in sensitivity training.”

That's right, all CLOWNS must go through Sensitivity Training.

It's too bad we don't require our elected officials to go through Intelligence Training.

This week's FRIDAY FUNNY was sent to me by a family member.

He saw a damaged window on a car. Instead of using clear plastic to cover the missing window, they used a black trash bag. They didn't want to lose their "street cred" by having non-tinted car windows.I'm GLAD they improvised.
