March 11, 2013 - PPM - TSA IQ MIA

This week's PET PEEVE MONDAY (PPM) is about the recent TSA announcement.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that starting April 25, airline passengers will be allowed to bring small knives, souvenir baseball bats, golf clubs and other sports equipment with them when they travel.

Really? In the "Era of Government Intrusion" around the size of soda drinks and how we cook our fries, we are going to lessen the rules? And why these rules?

Why can you now carry a knife, but 4 ounces of shampoo is banned? This HAS to be a government operation.

Is Oscar-winning actor Jack Nicholson now on a "Do Not Fly" list? Jack smashed the windshield of the another driver's car with a golf club because he believed that driver had cut him off in traffic.

The issue of souvenir bats should also be addressed. A Major League baseball game had to be cancelled one time in NY when the "Free Bat" promotion went bad. Sure, alcohol and wooden weapons are always a great combination. Also, how many airline passengers ACTUALLY need to transport a souvenir bat?

In all seriousness, the tragedy of 9/11 was enabled by poor National Security Intelligence and box cutter (knifes). The TSA has been incompetent in making us take off belts, shoes, and to forfeit our water and hand lotions. Don't even get me started on "random" pat-downs of grandmothers and infants.

How about we add some COMMON SENSE to our government programs?

I'm commenting on your blog because although I don't claim to understand politics, I do however regard myself as having common sense. And I in my infinite wisdom honestly believe that to be in politics, one has to have no common sense at all!
