Sept. 17, 2012 - Loser of the Week - Chicago Students
This week's LOSER OF THE WEEK is the Chicago Public School Students.
The Teachers's UNION is holding the students and parents hostage. The current deal they walked away from was a 16% raise. How many people get or are offered 16% raises right now?
According to news reports, Seventy-nine percent of the 8th graders in the Chicago Public Schools are not grade-level proficient in reading, according to the U.S. Department of Education, and 80 percent are not grade-level proficient in math.
Do these results really DESERVE a raise?
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has decided to send his three children to the University of Chicago Lab Schools rather than put them in the financially strapped Chicago Public Schools he’s trying desperately to reform, Additionally, almost 40% of Chicago Public School teachers send their children to private schools.
When ever you buy a car, ask what type of car the salesman drives. This says volumes about the quality of the car, or in this case the quality of the public school education. If THE teachers won't use the product, why would anyone?
The most humorous situation is how much Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis looks like the Roz character from Monsters, Inc.
Is this the face of LEADERSHIP?
The real LOSERS are the students. They deserve better. They deserve an adequate and actual education.
